Arashiyama is located near the edge of the western mountains this location is often missed by most foreign visitors. It offers more scenic views and is well worth a trip. One can spend a good portion of the day visiting the sites of Arashiyama.

Monkey Park - Located 20 minutes from Togetsukyo Bridge is the Iwatayama Monkey Park. The park offers visitors a chance to get away from the city and feed the Monkeys.
Train - Local trains on the Sagano Line depart from Kyoto Station and stop at three stations in the Arashiyama area. A good starting point for exploring would be to get off at Saga Arashyama. Please note that express service trains may not stop at this station so it is best to stick with the local service.
Bus - The only bus leaving from Kyoto Station that goes directly to Arashiyama is Bus 28. You may transfer to Bus 11 and Bus 93 depending on your final location. Please note that the ¥500 Bus Pass does not work for entering Arashiyama.
Togetsukyo Bridge - This picturesque bridge spans over the Hozu River. It is often the centerpiece of many photos during the spring cherry blossoms and the fall autumn leaves.
Daikaku-ji Temple - The temple was established in 876, thirty years after the death of Emperor Saga, by his first daugher, Empress Masako, who gave it its name. The temple is located ajactent to the Ozawa Pon.
